Romanced by God, that’s the point. That’s the point of Christianity. We have been pursued by a God who is absolutely enthralled with us. The question I have is, do you feel pursued? Daily? If not, you’re not alone. To feel romanced requires slowing down, listening, really paying attention to your heart, your surroundings, to God Himself. I know I am so busy, so distracted that I often miss it, I miss the calling to fall in love with my best friend Jesus.
It’s winter here in Colorado, and my mood becomes temperamental like the weather. Yet I can’t escape the longing for love, for beauty, and for adventure, and I find God is weaving it through the story of my daily life.
Today the birds are singing and despite the negative temperatures I am instantly taken to spring, awakened by all of its potential and newness. I find the peace I have been missing. Then sunset comes, luring me once again back to Eden. My longing tastes satisfaction as I enter into a dance with desire.
Remember the moments as children, chasing lightning bugs in a field at night or maybe it was catching frogs and toads at a pond? Oh, the ecstasy of innocence! Remember your honeymoon and the feeling of infinity?
Christ has restored this to us, now and forever. We’re invited to yield, to abandon ourselves to His calling, lean into His whisper everyday, letting our hearts awaken as they once did. This may lead us to go for a walk, create, write, listen, really listen to our day in a new light, and feel the pursuit of our Groom wooing us.

These quotes also stir me up to walk with my Creator all the more!
“Nature is too thin a screen; the glory of the omnipresent God bursts through everywhere”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Reading about nature is fine, but if a person walks in the woods and listens carefully, he can learn more than what is in books, for they speak with the voice of God.” -George Washington
Thank you, Jimmy. Your beautiful words spur me to think about the superior-reality, the Invisible Landscape, and it causes weight to slide off my back like snow melting off a roof.
I have been thinking about Paul a lot lately, and how he wrote such powerful words of Joy while he was in prison, chained to a guard. He writes so powerfully about joy at the same time that he is suffering greatly in the flesh. That just blows me away.
Thanks again for this fresh word.
